Chalk paint la pajarita

Furniture, doors, windows can have a second chance with new coats of paint. Chalk paint is an alternative to enamels, lacquers and acrylics.    The essence of this paint is chalk (calcium carbonate), historically used in some traditional paints with which avant-garde finishes are achieved.
2.2. Apply a first coat with a fine-haired brush. Start gently, combing the brush and following the grain of the wood. Always unload the paint brush and stretch the brushstroke as much as possible.
2.4. Apply a second coat after allowing the paint to dry for the time recommended by the manufacturer. The usual for these paints is about 4 hours, although the paint dries to the touch in 1 hour.
3.2. Let dry and sand gently with fine water based sandpaper or an aluminum pad. This way you will get the two colors to show unevenly. Cover the paint can tightly if it has not run out.
Chalk paint can be used on various types of materials, including wood, painted or unpainted, brick, stone or plaster. On rigid surfaces such as metal or plastic it is necessary to give a previous primer; also on surfaces with very shiny varnish or melamine.

Recycle and give a new life to your furniture by decorating it with chalk paint. With this special paint you will get a natural aged chalk effect to your furniture and the desired vintage style, which evokes the passage of time.
Wood is the material par excellence and perfect to be painted with chalk paint, although it can also be applied on metal, ceramics, melamine, glass and walls, but always on furniture and interior objects.
The great advantage of chalk paint is that you do not have to sand the furniture before starting to work on it. You should know that chalk paint contains gypsum and, this component, makes it a dense paint with which you will cover the wood grain.
You have to wait the time recommended by the manufacturer between coats. The chalk paint dries in 30 minutes, but you will have to wait 1 hour before it is really ready to apply another coat.
The varnish is more resistant and you can choose between three finishes: matte, satin or glossy. Wax, on the other hand, is more sensitive to scratches and knocks, so it is recommended for decorative objects without much use, and gives the furniture a matte finish.

The chalk paint, better known as chalk paint, is a type of paint with plaster with which you can renew the furniture giving them a vintage or aged effect, so fashionable. To achieve this, a first coat of paint must be applied (in the color that will remain in the background) and then another color or several finishing colors. To achieve the chalky finish, sand the surface to wear it down in some areas and bring the first coat back to the front. Discover how to paint with chalk paint in the following video:
